This year’s festival is shaping up to be the best yet. Performing companies include the amazing Handspring Puppet Company (the team behind War Horse), the legendary puppetry director Christopher Leith, acclaimed improvisers Improbable, the brilliant Theatre-Rites, international companies from the USA (Sandglass Theater), Israel (Yael Rasooly), France (Compagnie Akselere – Collete Garrigan) and Denmark (Tidsrum Theatre), new shows this year from puppetry geniuses Pickled Image and Green Ginger, unique artists Stephen Mottram, Susan Beattie and Matthew Robins, cabaret from Punched and Black Hoods, and a whole host of other brilliant people.
There are lots of ways to get involved with Suspense as a volunteer, including:
– Marketing: become a Suspense Champion and help us spread the word and carry out marketing stunts in the run-up and during the festival
– Venue support: base yourself in a venue and support the Front of House and Backstage teams
– Company support: ‘buddy up’ with a performing company and assist them with their run during suspense. This is especially important for the international companies, who will need a friendly face to show them around
– Events: help out with our many events that run alongside the shows, including the opening and closing night parties, panel discussions and networking events.
