‘Do you count yourself among the contented or the afflicted?’

A playful exploration of Cervantes’ novel, combining incredible visual imagery, live music and dance.

Featured as part of the 2013 British Council Showcase, this performance takes the same brazen attitude as Cervantes, presenting its own radical and absurd worldview. It is about how we don’t know what to do with individuals who want to affect change in unconventional ways; about our role as individuals within society – not necessarily to behave like Quijote; but to consider our response to those who do.

The title role will be played by a secret guest performer unique to each date.

Developed with Little Angel Theatre as part of Incubate, our programme to support companies exploring puppetry for the first time, or within productions that feature mostly live performance.

Don Quijote is a whirlwind of epic energy and anarchy, featuring live music. Don Quijote himself will be performed each night by a secret guest performer – chosen from the rest of the festival!

Access: The basement is accessible by lift. For further details please contact the venue.

Winner of the Wildfire Critics’ Choice Award 2014 – Ignite Festival.

“A Cheerfully anarchic show that takes apart Cervantes’ novel – with a power saw – and sends a reminder that change begins with us.”
The Guardian

“A whirlwind of joyous disintegration that sees the novel emerge resplendent from its own destruction.”
Time Out

“A brave and funny performance that recontextualises and reclaims the importance of Cervantes’ book’
The Skinny

“There is a lot to love about this production; they are more than a little crazy, but then you have to be to attempt to turn Cervantes’ epic tome into an hour-long stage show. This is no reduced-Sheakespeare style show, it is both more intelligent and more silly than that.”
