movingstage marionette company

In 1978 after a long period of working at the Little Angel, Juliet Rogers and her partner Gren Middleton established MOVINGSTAGE. in 1981 a barge was acquired and was chosen for the suitability of size in respect of constructing a marionette theatre. It opened in February 1982 in Camden Lock, London. This unique theatre with comfortable seating for 55 and all modern facilities is rich in atmosphere and provides the ideal setting for the marionette spectacles produced by Movingstage that are presented throughout the year. Several original scripts from acclaimed writers have been commissioned. Many puppeteers have received a training with the company during the last three decades. The company is managed by the Middleton family, a family of three generations.

During the winter and spring the barge is moored in Little Venice, London and during the summer in Richmond. Many seasons of adult productions have been presented and have attracted critical acclaim.
